Prepare your device
Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox and keep the page in the foreground. The browser may request microphone permission after you begin Act One. Allow it for voice control, or decline and continue with keyboard and touch controls.
You do not need to shout or stay close to the device. Normal speaking volume from roughly an arm's length is usually easier to control. Music from speakers can become room noise, so headphones or lower speaker volume may help.
- Desktop: hold Space instead of making a sound.
- Phone and tablet: press and hold the game surface.
- Landscape gives you more forward visibility, though portrait can still launch the game.
Shape the jump
SoundLeap maps live volume to continuous jump force instead of a simple on/off action. A short soft sound clears a stone, while a slightly louder sustained sound crosses a wider gap. Go quiet as soon as the obstacle is behind you to land sooner and prepare the next jump.
A full new jump begins only from the ground or a safe platform. Sound made in the air can preserve some upward force but cannot hold the runner forever. Coin arcs offer a readable clue to the height required by the terrain.
Shields, lives, and safe landings
Campaign acts provide three lives, each with two shield cells. A normal collision removes one cell and grants brief invulnerability. Losing both cells or falling into a gap ends that life. Recovery items restore one cell, or become points when the shield is already full.
Stones and brambles must be cleared. Only the front face of a stump is dangerous; its top is safe to land on and its back is harmless. Side contact with an enemy causes damage, while landing from above defeats it and creates a bounce.
Pause, failure, and saved progress
Use the pause control at any time to resume, restart the current act, or return to act selection. Unlocked acts, completed acts, and the local best score are stored automatically in the current browser.
Local progress does not sync to another device or browser. The endless leaderboard keeps the best result under an anonymous device identifier and requires no account. Clearing site data also clears local campaign progress and the player profile.
